Free Poetry and Art Events at Soar 3rd and 4th March 2016

Two free events are being held in Soar on 3rd and 4th March: an English language poetry workshop with Mike Jenkins at Canolfan Soar on Thursday 3 March . It's an all day workshop with Mike in the morning doing poetry and Rebecca Gouldson in the afternoon doing copper foil lettering.

Office Manager Vacancy at the Bevan Foundation

The Bevan Foundation currently have a vacancy for an Office Manager, 18-24 hours a week (open to flexible working) up to £14,352 a year, based at their offices in Merthyr Tydfil

Lloyds Bank Foundation - funding

Lloyds Bank Foundation has changed over to a grant rounds system. Enquiries are only open during certain periods of the year. In Round One (now closed) Wales received a fair number of enquiries, which have turned into applications. 

Round Two (4^th January to 5 p.m. 4^th March) is now live, but early indications are that there are not as many enquiries coming from Wales.  Enquires received in Round Two will not get a funding decision until 8^th August so planning now to submit an enquiry/proposal is essential

Round Three is not open until the 25^th April until 8^th June. . Round 3 decision will be communicated in late November.

Working together for Service Delivery 16 March 2016

Working together for service delivery - A one day course, here at VAMT.  9:30-4:30 at the Voluntary Action Centre, 16 March 2016 - £20 per participant.

Aim

To provide participants with the tools and knowledge to make informed decisions about whether and how to work with other third sector organisations to deliver services.

Content

Third sector organisations are increasingly being encouraged to work more collaboratively and form consortia. But working across organisational boundaries can bring difficulties and risks. This training course aims to explore the opportunities offered by working with partners, and to help organisations understand some of the key principles and practical considerations, such as choosing an appropriate structure and developing written agreements.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the benefits and obstacles of joint working

• Identify some of the key practical considerations for joint working

• Assess the merits of different consortium structures

Who this course is for

This course is intended for staff and trustees of third sector organisations who are exploring whether to work with partner organisations.

LIFE Programme for the Environment - Provisional Information Published on 2016 Call

The LIFE Environment sub-programme follows closely in the footsteps of previous LIFE Programmes and focuses on three priority areas:

• LIFE Nature & Biodiversity - best practice, pilot and demonstration projects that contribute to the implementation of the Birds and Habitats Directives and the Union Biodiversity Strategy to 2020, and the development, implementation and management of the Natura 2000 network.
• LIFE Environment & Resource Efficiency - pilot and demonstration projects to develop, test and demonstrate policy or management approaches, best practices and solutions.
• LIFE Environmental Governance & Information - information, awareness and dissemination projects to promote awareness raising on environmental matters.

Public bodies, commercial organisations and non-commercial organisations, including NGOs are eligible to apply. To help those currently designing new LIFE projects, the expected timetable and budget has been published, along with the submission routes. The application package and supporting information will be made available once it is ready.
The expected timetable is as follows:

• Traditional Projects - Environment and Resource Efficiency: 12 September 2016
• Traditional Projects - Nature and Biodiversity: 15 September 2016
• Traditional Projects - Environmental Governance and Information: 15 September 2016
• Preparatory Projects: 20 September 2016
• Technical Assistance: 20 September 2016
• Integrated projects: 26 September 2016

The proposed budget is as follows:

• Traditional projects (including those under the Climate sub-programme) - €239 million
• Preparatory Projects - €1.92 million
• Technical Assistance Projects - €800,000
• Integrated Projects - €79.2 million

Applications for traditional projects will be made by eProposal. Applications for Technical Assistance, Preparatory Projects and Integrated Projects will be submitted by paper to the Directorate General for Environment.

Postcode Community Trust - Community Sports Open to Applications (GB)

Grants of between £100 and £2,000 are available to enable grassroots sports clubs and organisations to obtain the following kit and equipment:

• Replacement of worn-out equipment and kits.
• A bank of new kits and equipment to support the launch of a new sports project.
• New kit and equipment which will expand capacity to meet demand for activities.
• Kit and equipment which will promote the inclusion of the disadvantaged or minorities within sports.

Priority will be given to projects that are creative, far-reaching and will leave a long-term impact once completed. The Trust will especially welcome applications for projects that are focused on improving life for disadvantaged groups and encouraging their inclusion within sporting activities.
Community groups and charities in England, Scotland and Wales are eligible to apply for this round of funding.
The deadline for applications is 19 February 2016 (5pm).

Youth Engagement and Progression Framework

ICF is undertaking some further research into the Youth Engagement and Progression Framework on behalf of the Welsh Government.  A comprehensive evaluation of the framework was carried out in 2014-15, during its implementation phase. The evaluation report was published in August 2015 on the Welsh Government website.

We would like to invite you to participate in a survey. which is part of a follow up study to the evaluation and aims to track progress. If you have already completed it, thank you very much for your help - you can ignore this request.

The response so far has been good but we would very much like to ensure that there is good representation from Third Sector Partners in Merthyr Tydfil.

 Your opinion as a key stakeholder is very important. The views and comments that you provide in this survey will help to shape and improve ongoing implementation of the Youth Engagement and Progression Framework (YEPF). Information about the content of the framework can be found here.

Whilst many stakeholders will have completed a similar survey last year, it is important to collect information about your experiences now, to allow us to gather an up-to-date picture of progress.

Your responses will be treated confidentially and anonymously. Individuals will not be named although the type of organisation you work for and regional location may be revealed. Your answers, however, will not be reported to anyone in any way that will allow you to be identified.
